Pengembangan Media GeoCivic Lab Berbasis Ruang Sosial Digital untuk Memfasilitasi Literasi Sosial Siswa SMA

Abstract

Digital transformation has reshaped geography education by requiring students to develop not only spatial thinking but also digital civic literacy. However, most existing geography learning media primarily emphasize conceptual understanding and spatial competencies, while the integration of digital social spaces and civic literacy remains limited. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the validity and practicality of GeoCivic Lab, a digital social-space-based geography learning medium for senior high school students. A quantitative Research and Development (R&D) approach was employed using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), with the study limited to the Develop stage. Product validation was conducted by subject matter, media, and language experts, while the practicality evaluation involved geography teachers and Grade XI students. Data were collected using five-point Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed through the Percentage of Average Score (PAS). The results showed that GeoCivic Lab achieved a validity score of 93.3% and a practicality score of 91.9%, both classified as very valid and very practical. These findings indicate that the developed media is pedagogically appropriate, technically reliable, and suitable for classroom implementation. The novelty of this study lies in integrating spatial analysis, digital social spaces, and digital civic literacy into a single geography learning platform that has been empirically demonstrated to be both valid and practical for supporting geography education at the senior high school level.
